
Huhtamaki & Xampla Bring Plastic-Free Morro™ Coating to New Folded Cartonboard Range
Following a successful in-market launch in fluted, corrugated format, proven at scale with Just Eat Takeaway.com, Huhtamaki and Xampla are now testing Morro™ coating on folded cartonboard. The concept brings the same high-performance barrier credentials into a new paperboard format, supporting brands with strong plastic reduction values that still need excellent grease resistance and pack integrity. Xampla's Morro™ coating is made from natural plant polymers without chemical modification, and has been validated plastic-free by the National Physical Laboratory. It is also not subject to restrictions under the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD). Produced using FSC®-certified papers, this new cartonboard solution is designed with dual end-of-life in mind, designed to support fibre recycling streams and, where suitable collection and processing exist, composting routes. Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) – single of multi-touch
With the new HGW 1033-32 wireless panel from SIGMATEK, operating comfort is key. In addition to WLAN data transmission, which provides a brand new level of operating freedom, the handheld operating panel is equipped with Safety elements, a high-resolution 10.1-inch multi-touch display, as well as three rotary encoders. Without cables, the operator can work close to the machine or robot and keep the process in completely view. The necessary safety is provided by the integrated Safety elements, confirmation switch, key switch and active illuminated emergency stop. The three rotary encoders on the front make set-up especially comfortable. The operator can keep an eye on the machine or robot and can for example, operate the axes via the rotary encoders almost blindly. In addition, multiple processing cells can be operated with only one panel. For this purpose, a secure 7-segment display for machine identification is integrated. Data transfer, whether function-oriented or Safety data, is processed via the BWH 01 base station following the Black Channel principle. The redundant data transfer on separate WLAN frequency bands (2.4 and 5 GHz) increase the availability of the wireless network.
