DESIGN > 3D packaging design > Materialisation > Feasibility of production > Physical mock-ups > Tender for selecting producer DELIVER The result is iconic, stylish and innovative packaging for the Hot & Cold meals concept. Form follows function: because the lid slopes, it can be filled on the production line. The packaging also allows the consumer to use it intuitively. Runner up in the NL Packaging Awards. Albert Heijn uses circulair MDS PET packaging from Hordijk
Albert Heijn is the first supermarket to use transparent tray-to-tray packaging. The packaging was developed by plastic recycling company Umincorp and Hordijk and consists of 40% recycled PET, of which at least half comes from household packaging waste (MDS rPET).

Aligning Collating Multipackaging Machine ACM Jongerius Hanco
The Aligning Collating Multipackaging Machine, or ACM, is designed to handle pre-packed individual servings of product directly from a vertical form fill machine (or Vff). The ACM is a fully automated multipackaging machine, used for packaging into pre-made, wicketed polybags. Product Handling Packs from the Vff pass through the Bag inspector and enter the ACM. Within the ACM the packs are aligned in the desired pattern and pushed into a pre-made sack that is then sealed by the integrated sealer. The finished multisack then drops from the machine. Performance The ACM can handle an infeed from the Vff of up to 140 packs per minute. The ACM can produce between 10 and 32 multipacks per minute, depending on the desired configuration and weight (grams) of the packs. Packaging Because of the neat alignment of the packs within the multisack, the outer sacks can be transparent. However, packaging into printed sacks, paper bags, or neutral non-transparent film belongs to the options as well. Furthermore, Jongerius Hanco encourages the use of compostable plastics which the ACM is totally compatible with. These plastics are industrially- and home compostable and therefore a environmental-friendly alternative to ordinairy plastic sacks. All-in-one inspection system
In many production lines, quality control is carried out using multiple separate machines. All-in-one inspection system

With this unique system, it's possible to conduct multiple inspections simultaneously, all in one compact machine. Three powerful inspection modules As soon as the product enters the system, it is inspected by the innovative LDS module for (micro)leak detection. This module applies slight pressure to the packaging, allowing gas to escape through any holes and micro-holes. The target molecules in the escaping gas are detected by IR or laser spectroscopy, capable of identifying CO2 (for MAP-packaged products), alcohol (for baked products), and specific flavors from the defective packaging. Next, the product is scanned by an advanced X-ray inspection system, capable of identifying various types of contaminants, including glass, stones, metals, bones, high-density plastic, concrete chips, etc., even in packaging made of metallized polylaminate, tinplate, aluminum, and metal clips. At the same time, the integrated dynamic weighing unit verifies the correspondence of the actual weight with the nominal weight, identifying packages outside the tolerance with very high precision and repeatability. These inspections are carried out in one compact system, with a single user interface reporting the results of each individual inspection, differentiated waste, automatic recipe setting, and reduced energy consumption. Thanks to this new concept, food producers no longer need to wonder how many inspection machines they need to install on their line. They just need to consider which inspections they want to include in their All-in-One inspection system.
