Extra white paper tape
Paper tape has been a sustainable alternative to traditional plastic tape for years and is increasingly used in modern packaging processes. With our latest paper tape, however, we are taking a clear step forward in ease of use, appearance, and performance. This new tape distinguishes itself primarily through significantly higher adhesive strength. This allows the tape to immediately seal boxes securely and keep the packaging reliably closed during storage and transport. Even with heavier boxes or changing conditions, the tape maintains its strong adhesion, often eliminating the need for additional tape. Furthermore, this paper tape is now also available as a 600-meter roll. This makes the tape ideal for use in automatic or semi-automatic sealing machines. Fewer roll changes ensure a more efficient packaging process, less downtime, and higher productivity on the shop floor. What also makes this tape visually distinctive is the use of whiter paper. This gives the packaging a neat and professional appearance and makes the tape particularly suitable for printing or applications where presentation is important. Printing appears sharper and with greater contrast, making packaging not only functional but also contributing to brand experience. Combining strong adhesion, machine compatibility, and improved appearance, this new paper tape offers a sustainable and practical solution for companies looking to optimize their packaging process without compromising on quality or presentation.

Factory acceptance test emmerlijn

Fast and expandable packaging line for fries manufacturer Agristo
For their factory building in Wielsbeke, Agristo looked for a packaging line for packing their potato flakes. This line had to be similar to the line we previously installed in Tilburg, but faster and expandable. The intake interview at the start of this project showed that safety and hygiene were extremely important. As is the case in all food production companies. With this in mind, we provided a packaging line with sufficient space for cleaning under the installation, and strict safety measures to ensure smooth operation. The bagging installation is of course ATEX suitable and completely made of stainless steel. We developed a complete packaging line from A to Z with which the potato flakes, with a size of 1, 3, 5 or 6 mm, were efficiently packed in tubular film. The system was set up in such a way that there is room for three additional lines, should the customer wish to expand in the future. We ensured good accessibility and cleanability under and along the installations. The entire packaging line stretched over a length of 40 meters, with no less than 90 meters of roller conveyors on top.

Flexible pallet wrapper for Lebbe Sugar Specialties
Lebbe Sugar Specialties, a branch of Tiense Suiker refinery in Oostkamp, was looking for a flexible wrapper with many options to stably package the various products for transport. And that with optimal use of plastic. Based on the requirements specified by Lebbe Sugar Specialties, we proposed the Tosa 123E ring wrapper. This is the second ring wrapper that we installed at Südzucker Group. The biggest asset of this machine is the versatile wrapping programming. Because Lebbe products are often still warm, they require a special wrapping program to prevent condensation in the foil. This is no problem for the 'smart wrapping technology' of the Tosa 123E ring wrapper. The machine creates open holes in the wrapping cycle, calculates how many grams of foil are needed, analyzes where more or less foil is needed and applies reinforcement. So we provided a machine that wraps very flexibly, with wrapping programs tailored to the different products. The result: precisely and stably wrapped pallets, with a minimum of plastic foil.

FMID prints extremely reliable with the Linx 8920 inkjet printer
Located on the outskirts of the Land of Heusden and Altena, the company FMID has been in existence for over 50 years. The family-owned business was originally established in Andel but has been located in Dussen for the past 40 years. FMID stands for Fijn Mechanische Industrie Dussen, translating to Fine Mechanical Industry Dussen. Arnold van Andel, co-owner of FMID, enthusiastically explains, 'The company excels in producing small-sized steel components in large quantities.' With a machine park featuring various multi-spindle CNC turning and milling machines, FMID manufactures high-quality products, including nipples, fittings, and special nuts and bolts. Thanks to the advanced machinery, the company produces rapidly and competitively, with production runs ranging from 500 to 50,000 pieces. We were able to supply FMID with a Linx 8920 small character inkjet printer earlier this year for coding the fittings. FMID had been using another type of inkjet printer for several years, but over time, this printer encountered significant issues, especially during startup. 'The problems could not be resolved after service from the supplier, leading us to look for an alternative,' says Arnold van Andel. 'Through a business contact, I was recommended to approach De Koningh. After an introduction, we agreed to place a Linx 8920 printer on demo because 'seeing is believing.' The Linx 8920 printer more than lived up to expectations.' 'The Linx 8920 printer is easy to use, and we can now print without any troubles. The support from De Koningh is also pleasant. We are even considering outsourcing the printing tasks to a social workshop because operating the Linx is straightforward, and its performance is reliable and stable,' says Arnold van Andel."

Food and Consumer Safety: Do You Choose Metal Detection or X-ray Inspection?
In the food industry, producers often choose between metal detection and X-ray inspection, each with unique advantages. Metal detection identifies metal contaminants from 0.3 mm and is easy to integrate, helping to comply with regulations and reduce recall risks, but it does not detect non-metallic contaminants. Metal detection is crucial in food, pharmaceutical, and personal care sectors. It detects ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, and stainless steel through electromagnetic fields. Applicable to various products and systems, it increases uptime and product safety. However, it can miss thin metal wires, necessitating additional technologies. X-ray inspection detects not only metals but also glass, stone, bone, and some plastics by using X-rays that reveal differences in absorption. Independent of temperature and humidity, it performs consistently with minimal false rejects. Additionally, X-ray performs quality checks such as measuring mass, counting components, identifying missing or damaged products, fill level verification, and packaging inspection, enhancing safety and product quality. The combination of both technologies offers optimal safety and efficiency. The choice depends on the product, packaging, and contamination. METTLER TOLEDO provides energy-efficient, flexible X-ray solutions that are cost-saving and easy to deploy, plus fast, accurate metal detection systems for optimal product safety.
