Publication Vakblad Voedingsindustrie 2024: Elite Neede: the service and reliability of EFAFLEX are simply top

New innovative production location for Elite: Gasless, with many innovative elements A further nine high-speed doors from EFAFLEX have been installed in the new building. “One of the USPs of the high-speed doors here, type SRT-L Premium, is that they are equipped with continuous door leaf tension: if there is negative or positive pressure in a room, the door leaf can bulge without the door leaf coming loose from the floor. This prevents unwanted air flows and gives vermin no chance to enter. This type of door always closes perfectly on the floor,” says Paul Valster of EFAFLEX. He explains that the doors have an opening speed of up to 2.5 metres per second and a system that allows them to open partially mechanically if the tension fails. Simon: “Suppose the fire alarm goes off and employees have to escape, then they don’t have to cut the doors. It’s extra annoying if it turns out to be a false alarm.” He is also very pleased with the service provided by EFAFLEX: “They work with their own mechanics, which is unique these days, very pleasant. But we only see them once a year for preventive maintenance, because there is never anything wrong.” Owner Harry is also happy with such a reliable partner as EFAFLEX. He prefers permanent partners. Does he never look around? “Yes, but you have to compare it to a marriage. It can go well for a long time, but if you are not satisfied, you have to talk to each other about it or let go. No, that is not the case here!”

    2. Recycled and biodegradable labels on the rise

Recycled and biodegradable labels on the rise

Producers are continuously looking for points for improvement in order to produce more sustainably and environmentally consciously. Major ecological steps have certainly been taken in packaging technology. We also see a clear trend towards more sustainable solutions in the field of labeling. For example, labels made from recycled plastic or biodegradable labels are increasingly preferred over regular labels. Which sustainable labels are there? Roughly speaking, there are two types of sustainable labels. First of all labels made of recycled plastic and also biodegradable labels. All available in coated or uncoated paper, both thermal direct or thermal transfer and available in a plastic variant. All paper labels also bear the FSC® certificate. This quality mark from the Forest Stewardship Council® indicates that our labels are made from sustainable (cultivated) wood. What is the advantage of labels made from recycled plastic? It goes without saying that labels made from recycled plastic are created by reusing raw materials. This gives recycling plants the opportunity to process residual waste into base materials to manufacture new labels. Labels made from recycled plastic are available in an unprecedented number of combinations, sizes and adhesives. This makes this sustainable solution accessible to everyone, because almost all regular labels can be replaced by labels made from recycled plastic. What are Biodegradable Labels? Biodegradable labels are made from natural products, such as: potato starch or sugar cane. The water-based acrylic adhesive provides sufficient adhesive strength and makes the biodegradable labels fully compostable. This label is ideal for biodegradable packaging, because that combination is 100% sustainable!

    3. Revolving stacking bin Horeca Van Zon

Revolving stacking bin Horeca Van Zon

With experience since 1964, Van Zon is the wholesaler for the catering industry in Belgium. With a wide range of high-quality products and 24/7 Express delivery, Van Zon is an ambitious and innovative company. Wholesale Van Zon came into contact with Engels Logistiek when they were looking for a sustainable solution for: * Distribution of the products to the catering industry, chip shops and other customers. * Order picking in the distribution centers. * Distribution of the products to the various shops of Horeca van Zon. Until now, orders have been packed in cardboard boxes and prepared for shipment in roll containers. Cardboard packaging, however, guarantees a lot of waste and in addition, the stacking in the roll containers was not optimal. Together with Engels, we looked for a suitable alternative. The system with the roll containers worked very well, so a matching container was sought. The internal dimensions of the roll containers were leading in this. However, a container with these qualifications was not available in the current market offer. But as is often the case, every disadvantage has an advantage. Constructing a new tank involves high start-up costs, but it does give the client the opportunity to be closely involved in the design of the tank from the start. A revolving stack model was chosen for the construction of the container. This means that the bins with contents can be stacked stably on top of each other and when they are empty, they can be nested into each other with half a turn. The outer dimensions of the container have become 375x325x225 mm, so that exactly four containers fit on the bottom of a roll container. An orange plastic color was chosen for the personalization in accordance with Van Zon's house style. In addition, on the long side of the box there is a relief print of their slogan: We love food The 10,000 revolving stacking bins have now been produced and put into use by Horeca Van Zon to full satisfaction.

    4. Romédes Special-machines has developed a new series beltbunkers.

Romédes Special-machines has developed a new series beltbunkers.

Beltbunkers als used to feed a buffer-volume to a feedingunit like a vibrating bowlfeeder. Bowfeeders are the most efficient when the maximum product-movement is created by controlled frequency and amplitude. Too much or too little product (Mass) in the feeding bowl will have a negative effect on the output. A beltbunker takes care of the right dosage of product to the bowlfeeder. Often beltbunkers are pushing out to much volume at once. The bowl becomes too filled up en will work less efficient until the optimal volume is reached again. The new beltbunkers of Romédes are very precisely adjustable. They are specially constructed on application for accurate meeting the demands of the bowlfeeder. Besides that they are very quiet, transfer no vibrations to its surrounding and are extreme robust designed. The beltbunkers are available from 5 to 1000 liters.

S3E12 - The Hidden Impact of Packaging

Guest: Babette Porcelijn - Author & Impact Expert on Sustainable Living In this episode, Ariane & Lucy talk with Babette Porcelijn, author and impact expert on sustainable living. Babette studied Industrial Design in Delft and delved into the world of impact in 2014. What she discovered was a wake-up call: our greatest environmental impact often lies in "hidden impact." Think of everything we import, but don't perceive as impact because it remains hidden. She wrote the groundbreaking book "The Hidden Impact" about where our greatest environmental impact really comes from. And in her latest book, "Happy 2050," she paints a hopeful future if we make the right choices now. It focuses on sustainable choices, packaging impact, and the role of consumer behavior, but also on the systemic aspects: pricing, wealth concentration, and the growth imperative of capitalism. Her new book is in the works. In this episode you will learn: What “hidden impact” is and why we underestimate it Why packaging has a small impact on a single piece but a huge impact at scale Which system solutions are needed, from deposit refunds to economic democracy A conversation about the impact you don’t see but that is there, systems that are steering wrong and choices that steer towards a positive 2050. 8. Sealing unit for automatic sealing of bigbags

Sealing unit for automatic sealing of bigbags

Due to a shortage of staff at a customer, we started looking together at where in the process hands could be saved. We eventually ended up at a big bag line where big bags are filled with the customer's product, after which the big bags are sealed manually. The person who previously closed the big bags can now be deployed elsewhere in the factory, which has made up for part of the staff shortage. In addition to covering staff shortages, this solution is an investment with a good payback period. This makes it a sustainable, future-oriented solution for the customer.

    9. Serac eMC capper

      Serac eMC capper

Perfect for delivering the right amount of product and very convenient, pump bottles are highly appreciated by consumers and keep developing on all markets, from home and personal care to food products. Serac thus paid particular attention to this kind of packaging while developing its new eMC capping machine, which relies on brushless technology to offer maximum efficiency in production, whatever the closing system. The eMC capper is able to handle nearly all the closing systems on the market: oriented, non-oriented, screw and push-on caps, screw or push-on finger pump sprayers and pump dispensers, push-on trigger sprayers. Hence, this machine can be considered for production lines having to deal with a wide variety of packagings, or as a scalable solution, allowing to anticipate a shift from conventional caps to pumps. The dip tube gripper system grasps the tube at its highest point, which allows to properly align and straighten it before introducing it into the bottle. The capping machine can thus equally handle straight or bent tubes. With all functions gathered in one single turret and mechanical cams replaced by servomotors, the capping unit is also more compact and less high. It will thus integrate more easily on existing lines. Fully electronic for optimum quality eMC for electronic motion control: the new Serac capping machine is entirely controlled by B&R electronic components, which deliver optimum flexibility and accuracy at every step of the capping process. Consistent use of electronics also simplifies production parameter management and allows qualifying of the screwing cycle (applied torque, number of rotations) for traceability and performance analysis purposes. Electronic control allows instantaneous adaptation of capping head stroke to tube length, thus avoiding time losses due to unnecessary movements. Electronics also increase the overall availability of the machine by reducing the number of wear parts and facilitating remote assistance.

Service is in our DNA - interview VerpakkingsManagement

A resounding organic growth of more than 20% in 2022 and a constant growth in turnover since Bert-Jan Dijk took over the company. Those are the facts. "Only in the corona year 2020 did we not grow, but remained stable." “I have always been customer-oriented,” he says. Dijk started his career in the world of trucks. “Then you know how important good service is.” It was therefore obvious to Dijk that his company would focus heavily on service and quality. That has worked, as evidenced by the growth figures. "We are even available 24/7, because downtime is costly for many of our customers." Trust What Dijk finds important is to keep in touch with the market. That is why he still has his own district as an account manager. ‘This way I hear what is going on in the market and I also experience what my colleagues are experiencing in the market. You have to stay close to your customers. We have grown big by staying small. We have always remained close to the customer and listen carefully to their wishes. Another important aspect is that your team is happy and enjoys helping the customer. That customer focus is really in our DNA.” 'Team spirit' In order to cope with the growth, De Koningh hires three technicians every year. This excludes the two technicians that subsidiary company Presa (Belgium) and the extra technician that Mundy Technology needs every year. The group now consists of 117 employees. They don't have a personnel problem at De Koningh. ‘You have to ensure that you have passionate people who enjoy their work. I personally hired all but a few employees because they need to fit into our team and be just as customer-oriented. We are a close-knit team. When it is busy, it is best that an account manager accompanies a technician to install a machine or that a preset machine is delivered to the company by the account manager. People help each other.”

SLIMLINE: Save up to 50% on your Coding equipment - Smart Less is More -

SLIMLINE gaat over kostenbesparing. Tegenwoordig biedt "Internet of Things" vergaande mogelijkheden.
