Versland Selection in Poeldijk represents a group of 120 growers. For the daily distribution between grower, distribution center and customer, Schiphorst supplied Versland Selection 350,000 folding crates of the Clever-Fresh-Box type in the dimensions 600x400x230 mm and 600x400x180 mm.

Versland guarantees daily fresh products of only high quality. In order to ensure that the distribution of all this runs smoothly and to guarantee a constant quality, Versland ensures a continuous stock of folding crates in all phases of the distribution channel.

Two years ago, Versland made the choice to switch from pool crates to its own crates. Versland chose the Clever Fresh Box. “We have tested a number of models and this folding crate emerged as the best price/quality ratio for me.” says Ed Koelewijn, managing director. “These folding crates are easy to open and close, offer a high load capacity and are light and handy to use.”

When folded, the Clever Fresh Box results in a volume saving of no less than 83%, which makes a significant difference in the proportion of empty return transports of the crates. The Clever Fresh Box has perforated walls and bottom. The narrow slot perforation allows air circulation for further cooling of the crops in the crate and is designed in such a way that it does not leave any impressions in the product. The crates are equipped with integrated label holders, so that labels can be easily attached to the crate and no stickers are needed. The crate also offers facilities for applying an in-mould barcode. The patented lift-lock system with which the crates are fitted guarantees a secure closure of the corners when the crates are unfolded.

For Versland, the crates are produced in blue and have a relief logo so the crates can be identified as property of Versland.
