The KORORCY recyclable flat-bottom pouch is an innovative PE-based monomaterial solution for various products, including dry pet food, confectionery, and personal care items. Known as the “box” or “5-panel” pouch, it offers superior product protection and shelf appeal with its 3D shape and branding panels, replacing traditional boxes for weights from 150g to 10kg. The pouch features a recyclable laminate, comprising two layers of polyethylene film. The outer layer (30µm thick) replaces PET films, serving as a print substrate, while the inner layer (100µm thick for larger pouches) accommodates seals and features such as PE-zippers, ensuring a secure, impact-resistant pouch.
With only 7% of “foreign” substances, including inks and adhesives, the laminate is 93% polyethylene, achieving full recyclability according to CEFLEX guidelines. The pouch, with a density below 1g/cm3, aligns with both mechanical and chemical recycling processes, enabling easy sorting.
Crucially, the KORORCY pouch addresses the recycling challenges posed by polyolefins PE and PP, which constitute a significant portion of flexible packaging waste in Europe. Its 93% PE structure allows for seamless sorting and recycling in existing European facilities. Tailored for countries like Germany, France, the UK, the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain, the pouch supports emerging recycling technologies, providing a higher yield in chemical recycling compared to prevalent laminates. In essence, the KORORCY pouch enhances recyclability and contributes to a more sustainable approach to flexible packaging waste in Europe.
