Topa is taking major steps within CO2 reduction and sustainability
Topa is on track for sustainability
Topa is once again taking a great step forward in its ambition to reduce the Company Carbon Footprint (CCF). In 2023, we have once again significantly reduced our CO2 emissions and have made a financial climate contribution for the remaining emissions.
CCF 2023 results: More than just numbers
In 2023, we have also taken targeted measures in our internal business operations that contribute to the realization of our environmental objectives. For example, by making adjustments to our heating system, switching to electric or hybrid cars and switching to green energy, we have reduced our total CO2 emissions by no less than 38%. From 1,660 tons in 2020 to 1,025 tons last year. Our reduction is far above the Dutch objectives of the Paris Climate Agreement, which aims for a reduction of 11%. Our figure for waste has unfortunately increased slightly last year. This is the result of an adjusted internal distribution key. In total, we have again managed to achieve a nice saving in the past year.
We now want to take responsibility for our emissions. That is why Topa has also made a financial climate contribution via ClimatePartner for 2023. The project that has been chosen is 'Renewable Energy Asia'. This project invests in renewable energy such as wind and solar energy, which helps to reduce global CO2 emissions. Thanks to this contribution, Topa can call itself a 'Company with a financial climate contribution' in 2024.
But we are not finished with 'reducing' yet
Although we are proud of the results achieved, we recognize that there is always room for improvement. In 2024, we will continue our initiatives to further reduce our CO2 emissions. Our spearheads in 2024 remain reducing energy consumption, making our fleet more sustainable and further limiting our waste stream.
