Tomato specialist Redstar reduces margin of error by using NiceLabel software
After harvesting, the tomatoes are transported to the packaging machine via the conveyor belt. The planning sees which packaging orders come in in combination with the stock. They can schedule this on one of their production lines. With NiceLabel Software, the chosen packaging is now filled, packaged and provided with a label and coding with checkweighing or E-weighing. Until now, the label printers were set manually because there was no link with the parent system. This regularly led to errors when a different type of tomato was packaged and the printer was not set to the label with the correct characteristics. RedStar works for major retailers in Europe. They have more than 500 different packaging in their production. In addition to their own tomato nurseries, they also purchase on a large scale. Each package has its own unique label and is coded with its own cultivation number for the origin of the tomatoes.
Coding and labeling specialist De Koningh helped RedStar minimize the number of these errors by using NiceLabel software. The software and printers no longer need to be set up manually. This is now done at a central point that communicates with all coding and labeling systems. The performance of the machines is fed back to the MES system (control software for production processes) via a link. Centralizing the management and control of various labels results in a strongly improved result.
The collaboration between De Koningh and RedStar is certainly not new. They have been working together pleasantly for years in the field of coding and labeling. The search for a partner that supplies both the coding and labeling systems as well as the software, has therefore quickly led to De Koningh. De Koningh is a recognized supplier and, with the so-called 'NiceLabel Solutions Partner' status, has everything it takes to provide us with the right advice and service.
