Huhtamaki & Xampla Bring Plastic-Free Morro™ Coating to New Folded Cartonboard Range

Following a successful in-market launch in fluted, corrugated format, proven at scale with Just Eat Takeaway.com, Huhtamaki and Xampla are now testing Morro™ coating on folded cartonboard. The concept brings the same high-performance barrier credentials into a new paperboard format, supporting brands with strong plastic reduction values that still need excellent grease resistance and pack integrity.

Xampla's Morro™ coating is made from natural plant polymers without chemical modification, and has been validated plastic-free by the National Physical Laboratory. It is also not subject to restrictions under the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD).

Produced using FSC®-certified papers, this new cartonboard solution is designed with dual end-of-life in mind, designed to support fibre recycling streams and, where suitable collection and processing exist, composting routes.
